About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Review accounting activities within Avangrid Group, including regulated and nonregulated business affiliates
  • Manage and control the AGR Financial Ledger
  • Support AGR Business and Control Teams in understanding and using SAP to meet group accounting policies
  • Participate in the review and/or preparation of AGR standalone financial statements
  • Lead AGR Accounting Teams through the accounting close of standalone companies under US GAAP and IFRS
  • Prepare standalone financial statements for corporate companies
  • Analyze fixed assets and provide variance analysis to senior financial and business management
  • Maintain appropriate accounting treatments and correct erroneous treatments with Control and business teams
  • Work with Networks business groups to manage CapEx activity
  • Complete capitalization processes and comply with internal controls with Control
  • Review and analyze SAP financial records, business processes, and procedures for policy and quality compliance
  • Participate in developing detailed accounting policies
  • Perform journal entries, reconciliations, regulatory reports, and other requirements
  • Review monthly P&L and key performance indicators to identify variances and unusual items
  • Support external and internal audits through internal controls and preparation of supporting materials

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
  • 5+ years experience in industry or public accounting relevant to job requirements
  • Accounting or financial experience required
  • Experience in preparation or audit of financial statement required
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards required
  • Knowledge of FERC accounting standards preferred
  • Experience with ERP system required, SAP preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem solving ability required, including the ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends and variances, and translate findings into actionable recommendations required
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written required
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Ability to identify, evaluate and implement process improvements and automation opportunities that enhance efficiency, accuracy and internal controls preferred
  • Skilled to work independently with management oversight
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States under applicable immigration requirements
