About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the Core Risk Manager in delivering effective risk management across the Core Portfolio
- Facilitate risk workshops
- Provide guidance and training on risk registers
- Report on portfolio risk profiles
- Support implementation of best-practice risk management standards
- Drive continuous improvement and strengthen risk management capability across the portfolio
- Assist Core projects with maintaining effective risk registers aligned to critical priorities
- Assist with Quantitative Risk Assessments (QSRA/QCRA)
- Integrate risk assessment results into planning and cost forecasts to define risk contingencies and schedules
- Work with Planning and Cost teams to validate risk assessment assumptions and address risk queries
- Provide insights into risk registers and explain risk-related data to project teams
- Use risk management dashboards to present key performance indicators
- Maintain and leverage the risk library
- Facilitate risk participation in Project Lessons Learned activities
- Help ensure programmes and projects meet external OFGEM requirements
- Provide assurance and strategic direction across the portfolio
- Engage with Heads of Programme, Commercial and Contracting coordinators, and Director-level stakeholders across SPT
- Enable portfolio risk reporting and insights development
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience assisting a Risk Manager in delivering risk management activities within large capital expenditure projects
- A degree in a relevant field such as Risk Management or Project Management, or equivalent qualifications (MoR or PMI-RMP) or equivalent experience, is required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to produce high-quality reports, dashboards and presentations tailored for senior stakeholders
- Effective stakeholder management capabilities
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with delivering project-wide risk workshops and meetings
- Awareness of Quantitative Risk Analysis (QCRA/QSRA)
- Knowledge of integrating quantitative risk analysis results into project planning and evaluation
- Familiarity with risk management standards, KPIs and playbooks
- Awareness of Power BI and risk data integration into project-level dashboards and reports
- Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract frameworks is beneficial
- Awareness of Safran Risk, Nodes & Links, Primavera Risk Analysis, Riskonnect/ARM, or equivalent platforms is advantageous
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Focus on continuous improvement and awareness of lessons learned and best practices
- Ability to work autonomously and in partnership with Core PMO and project teams
- Ability to legally work in the United Kingdom, subject to applicable immigration requirements
