About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Take ownership of the emrgen.ai codebase, cloud environment, and AI components from the outside vendor
Complete the vendor handover with full documentation, clean access, and no single point of failure
Audit architecture, security, data handling, and model behavior
Deliver a written plan covering what to keep, fix, or rebuild
Run AI documentation features end to end, from clinician input to the structured note reviewed and signed by a clinician
Measure AI quality using evaluation sets and track accuracy, invented content, and clinician editing frequency
Build guardrails preventing unsupported clinical facts and requiring clinician approval before notes enter the record
Enforce access controls, audit logging, and rules governing data sent to outside model providers
Connect emrgen.ai with the iCareManager platform and state Medicaid billing requirements so documentation becomes billable services
Establish releases, monitoring, and on-call coverage
Mentor engineers on the Pakistan team and help hire future team members
Work directly with the Chief Product Officer and engineering team in Pakistan

Requirements

What you’ll need

8 or more years as a professional software engineer, including time as a technical lead
3 or more years shipping AI features into production
Built or heavily worked on an EHR or EMR system for United States healthcare customers while based in Pakistan, and can name the system and personal contribution
Hands-on experience with large language models, including prompt design, retrieval, evaluation, and controlling cost and speed
Speech-to-text experience is a strong plus
Experience inheriting a system built by others and making it maintainable
Working knowledge of HIPAA, audit trails, and handling protected health information inside AI pipelines
Clear understanding of clinical documentation workflows and clinician trust requirements
Written English strong enough for customer-facing documentation
Comfortable working with United States hours overlap
Nice to have: experience in IDD, behavioral health, or Medicaid billing
Nice to have: familiarity with HL7 or FHIR
Nice to have: experience supporting a SOC 2 audit
Nice to have: experience with machine learning operations, such as model versioning and monitoring
