About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support FEMA Public Assistance program delivery and disaster recovery operations
  • Develop, review, and analyze FEMA Project Worksheets and supporting documentation
  • Provide guidance on FEMA policies, regulations, and program requirements
  • Partner with federal, state, tribal, territorial, and local stakeholders throughout the recovery process
  • Resolve project and program issues while maintaining quality, compliance, and customer service standards
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting, and records
  • Support recovery initiatives helping communities restore critical infrastructure and public services
  • Work on assignments as available and accept or decline on-call deployments
  • Travel to disaster field locations, client sites, and operation locations for multi-week assignments

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience working FEMA Public Assistance or comparable state or local disaster recovery programs
  • 2+ years of experience assisting federal, state, tribal, territorial, local government partners, or other public-sector entities with disaster recovery, disaster response, emergency management, or disaster preparedness
  • Willingness and ability to travel by flight and vehicle with short notice, including national deployment, evenings, and weekends
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check
  • Preferred: 2+ years supporting Florida Emergency Management (FDEM) disaster recovery programs, including knowledge of F-ROC and DRA
  • Familiarity with FDEM documentation requirements, disaster readiness assessments, procurement and contract compliance reviews, insurance documentation, and audit-ready recordkeeping
  • Ability to evaluate organizational preparedness and identify documentation, procurement, policy, training, and compliance gaps
  • Experience developing and delivering emergency management, FEMA Public Assistance, disaster grants management, or recovery operations training, technical assistance, workshops, or readiness assessments
  • Working knowledge of Florida local government operations, emergency management practices, and disaster recovery stakeholder coordination
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • FEMA certifications or relevant FEMA coursework preferred
  • Experience interpreting and applying FEMA Public Assistance policy, guidance, and regulations
  • Experience supporting complex disaster recovery operations and stakeholder considerations
  • Experience in grants management, infrastructure recovery, construction, public works, engineering, architecture, environmental services, or related disciplines
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and project management software
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, written and verbal communication, critical thinking, time management, prioritization, and collaboration skills
