About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the Mountain West planning team with environmental planning, policy, permitting, and related services
- Prepare environmental impact statements and environmental assessments for complex projects and regulatory programs
- Manage environmental review processes, including regulatory agency consultation, public involvement, impact analysis, and mitigation measures
- Perform federal, state, and local permitting and compliance for renewable and traditional energy, transmission, aviation, and other projects under NEPA and other regulations
- Provide federal agency headquarters environmental support, including NEPA compliance
- Deliver technical services such as biological surveys and studies, air quality analysis, noise impact assessments, and other resource-related studies
- Plan and complete major project tasks and deliver accurate, timely, high-quality products and services
- Organize work across multiple complex projects
- Interact with staff and clients at all levels
- Interface directly with key agencies and clients and build and maintain relationships
- Train, develop, and potentially direct junior staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in natural or physical science, public policy, economics, environmental management, or related subjects
- 4+ years of environmental consulting experience for government or private sector clients
- Experience with clients in the natural resources, energy, transportation, related infrastructure, and federal market sectors
- Experience preparing NEPA documents and environmental permitting
- Experience supporting and serving on project management teams
- Experience developing and maintaining project schedules and budgets
- Experience writing proposals
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Project, and MS Teams
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and multitask under strict deadlines
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to succeed with new and challenging tasks
- Ability to understand task expectations and how tasks fit into the overall project
- Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and clients
- Ability to organize written work clearly and tailor it to the intended audience
