About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support federal agencies such as U.S. EPA and NIEHS, state agencies, and private-sector clients
  • Develop reports assessing the human health impacts of pollutants
  • Review scientific and peer-reviewed literature on environmental risk assessment topics
  • Synthesize scientific findings and communicate them through written reports, websites, visualizations, and other media
  • Manage and visualize large datasets and create visualizations and dashboards
  • Conduct study data extraction using electronic systematic review procedures and tools
  • Conduct data and statistical analysis
  • Participate in scientific workshops through notetaking, workshop summary reports, and event logistics
  • Follow standardized QA/QC procedures for documents and reports
  • Perform toxicology systematic review tasks, including literature screening, study quality evaluation, and study data extraction
  • Support risk assessment report development by writing methods, results, and discussion sections
  • Review data-based conclusions and synthesize findings into weight-of-evidence analyses
  • Conduct dose-response analyses when needed
  • Work on multiple projects with staff at all levels

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s degree in Toxicology, Epidemiology, Public Health, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related subject, or Bachelor’s degree in any of these fields combined with equivalent experience
  • Minimum 4 years of experience
  • Strong data-science skills, including experience managing and visualizing large datasets
  • Exceptional research and scientific writing skills, including editing, reference management software such as EndNote, and proofreading
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, and visualization skills
  • Experience with environmental science systematic reviews is a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including developing and delivering presentations
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work individually, in groups, and virtually under strict deadlines
  • Experience with Excel, Access, R, SAS, Python, SQL, VBA, and/or other software
  • Ability to interact with clients, present project updates, and develop professional relationships
