About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct wetland delineations and biological surveys for infrastructure projects throughout Texas and the U.S.
  • Conduct desktop and field surveys
  • Perform habitat assessments and functional assessments
  • Apply technical expertise and regulatory knowledge to compliance challenges involving the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and federal and state laws
  • Assess impacts and prepare technical reports
  • Author and review reports
  • Prepare U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 404/10 permit applications and mitigation plans
  • Work alongside and support senior staff and teams of biology and wetlands experts
  • Explore project sites, terrain, and ecological landscapes
  • Discuss species and regulatory changes with biologists and project managers
  • Develop client relationships under experienced leaders

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS in Biology, Natural Resource Sciences, Wetland Science, Wildlife, Ecology, Botany, Forest, Environmental Sciences, or a similar field by time of hire
  • Must be able to work independently in the field for extended periods of time, often with limited mobile phone reception
  • Ability to travel to project sites, including overnight trips for up to a week at a time, with higher frequency in the spring and fall
  • Valid driver’s license is required
  • Any experience conducting wildlife habitat assessments and surveys, wetland delineations, environmental permitting related to WOTUS, or closely-related environmental field services
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical writing skills
  • Ability to QA/QC deliverables and apply feedback from senior staff
  • Experience using GPS technologies
  • Texas-based candidates are preferred
