About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead AI data architectures for Genesis Mission science and technology challenges
- Lead development, validation, and interpretation of ML models and data pipelines for energy applications
- Lead writing journal articles and conference proceedings on energy and data AI systems
- Analyze data and generate results for analytics, visualization, and modeling needs across cloud, on-premises, and edge-based architectures
- Apply explainable AI/ML, large language models, physics-informed machine learning, systems performance analysis, and/or data sensor fusion
- Apply energy domain knowledge to identify opportunities for machine learning and data-driven analysis
- Collaborate with data science teams to translate energy requirements into analytical frameworks
- Evaluate model outputs using domain expertise to ensure physical accuracy and operational relevance
- Lead technical documentation, reports, and presentations related to ML-assisted efforts
- Present complex information effectively to national and international audiences
- Work with little supervision on highly complex defined tasks
- Collaborate with government agencies, academia, and industry partners
- Publish results in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings
Requirements
What you’ll need- PhD in data science, engineering, geosciences, mathematics, computer science, physics, geology, artificial intelligence, or related technical discipline
- 10 years of relevant experience
- Ability to interpret and communicate data-driven results within an energy domain context
- Highly skilled at managing stakeholder relationships effectively
- Highly skilled communicator across mediums and platforms
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE level “Q” security clearance
- U.S. citizenship required for the DOE level “Q” security clearance
- Experience with energy domain problems
- Expertise in complex data management
- Exposure to supervised/unsupervised learning techniques or data visualization tools
- Ability to perform the stated physical requirements
- Males born after December 31, 1959 must have registered with the Selective Service System
- Resume and complete answers to application questions required
