About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the Management Control department, comprising 8 employees, reporting to the Chief Administrative and Financial Officer
- Contribute to defining the department’s strategic direction and support its development
- Manage, motivate, and support a team of 8 management controllers
- Provide purpose, set priorities, and foster a collaborative team dynamic that encourages cooperation and the sharing of best practices
- Develop team capabilities, support increased autonomy, and promote professional development
- Drive developments in management control and lead the department’s transformation project
- Evolve working methods and improve the quality of financial oversight
- Support the adoption of new tools, organizational structures, and processes
- Document, harmonize, and strengthen management control procedures
- Design and implement the processes required to manage business activities, and define relevant, reliable, and shared performance indicators
- Oversee the production and reliability of dashboards
- Oversee the financial substantiation of research projects and associated funding
- Lead financial audits with the relevant teams
- Monitor the financial performance of two technical departments in collaboration with their managers
- Act as a key point of contact for operational departments and contribute to strategic decision-making
Requirements
What you’ll need- Advanced degree (Master’s level) in management, finance, management control, or a related field
- Strong experience in management control, ideally in an environment involving complex projects, multiple funding sources, or organizational transformation
- Proven experience managing teams and supporting change
- Proficiency in management and reporting tools: advanced Excel, Power BI, or equivalent
- Strong interest in data, reporting automation, and continuous improvement
- Knowledge of public funding or research project management
- Professional proficiency in English preferred
- Strong interest in structuring, organization, and improving practices
- Demonstrated ability to bring people together, drive projects forward, and build relationships of trust with a diverse range of stakeholders
