About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as a strategic legal and compliance advisor to Leadership Teams and teams across all organizational levels
Provide commercially focused legal counsel supporting sustainable growth while managing legal, regulatory and reputational risk
Partner with leaders to identify opportunities and risks, support strategic initiatives, and enable sound business decisions
Develop, implement and operationally run the regional legal, compliance and governance strategy
Review engagements with higher-risk groups, including Health Care Professionals, Government Officials and Patient Organizations
Oversee legal review of promotional, medical and scientific materials requiring Legal and Compliance input
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the legal and compliance function
Manage external legal counsel, partnerships and external spending while ensuring high-quality legal services
Lead enterprise legal and compliance risk assessments and oversee mitigation strategies
Promote ethics, integrity and accountability through leadership, communication and governance
Run or oversee investigations, corrective actions and remediation plans
Report significant legal and compliance risks, trends and mitigation strategies to Leadership Teams and the VP, Head of Legal and Compliance EU & International

Requirements

What you’ll need

Law degree from a recognized university – with a focus on German, Swiss and/or Austrian law
Compliance certificate and/or strong experience in Compliance
Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in the life science industry or law firm advising pharmaceutical, biotechnology or medical device businesses
Demonstrated expertise in German, Swiss or Austrian legal systems, with a strong understanding of the broader European regulatory environment
Strong experience in designing, implementing and overseeing enterprise Compliance and governance frameworks
Proven strategic leadership with the ability to influence executive decision making and act as a trusted advisor to a Leadership team as well as across all operational levels of an organization
Deep understanding of the legal, regulatory, and compliance landscape governing the pharmaceutical and life science industry across the region
Strong experience in commercial law, corporate governance, anti-bribery and anti-corruption, data privacy, competition law and enterprise risk management
Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex matters into practical business recommendations
High degree of integrity and resilience, with the ability to lead confidently in a dynamic and highly regulated industry
Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong focus on innovation, continuous improvement and delivering business value
Results-oriented leader with intellectual curiosity and a proactive solution-oriented approach
Fluent in German and English
