About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and team members to elicit business requirements, define business processes, and system requirements
- Analyze stakeholder requirements and design business process models, workflow charts, diagrams, specifications, and user stories
- Assess overall business needs and provide solutions while documenting and defining business requirements
- Work with technical teams to translate requirements into system designs and solutions
- Conduct discovery sessions, workshops, and interviews to align business needs with technology solutions
- Bridge business users and technical teams by defining clear, scalable solutions
- Support decomposition of requirements into user stories in an Agile development lifecycle
- Write user stories with acceptance criteria
- Facilitate creation of functional and technical diagrams and related artifacts
- Analyze existing workflows, identify inefficiencies, and propose improvements
- Develop and maintain process/control changes by identifying gaps and writing improved processes
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with DoD clients
- Contribute to project planning and milestone delivery aligned with business objectives
- Consult with end users to evaluate business requirements and develop design specifications
- Work closely with Development teams to design, code, test, and implement application features and capabilities
- Provide mentorship to Junior Business Analysts
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years professional experience / minimum of 10 years supporting Business Analyst activities
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance issued by the Department of Defense (DoD)
- United States Citizenship required for Secret security clearance eligibility
- Must reside in the continental United States
- Experience with DON Manpower, Personnel, Training, and Education IT systems
- Experience working with DoD customers to define capability needs
- Experience with DoD business processes
- Experience as a business analyst on Agile teams
- Experience eliciting and decomposing capability needs
- Experience documenting as-is and to-be business processes
- Experience in business process analysis, mapping, and optimization
- Expertise in requirements gathering and management, user stories, functional requirements, requirements analysis, and acceptance criteria
- Experience translating requirements into viable concept design solutions
- Cattle Drive execution experience
- Experience facilitating requirements elicitation with business customers, system assessment teams, and test teams
- Experience documenting business (BRD) and functional (FRD) requirements through the entire System Design Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Experience capturing requirements through business process modeling (BPM) following industry standards
- Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in team environments and with other business organizations
- Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Project management skills and experience are desirable
