About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead analysis and design of electrical systems, including detailed designs, specifications, and calculations meeting code requirements and IMEG standards
  • Document client design decisions and instructions
  • Monitor design progress against percent complete and fee expended
  • Gather client requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain professional relationships
  • Support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and consulting-project execution
  • Analyze engineering problems and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants on practical solutions
  • Conduct in-process reviews of electrical designs, calculations, and specifications
  • Apply quality-control processes
  • Stay current on electrical engineering trends, emerging technologies, and best practices
  • Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts
  • Identify and mitigate electrical-system safety risks
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to deliver integrated solutions
  • Identify potential project problems and seek guidance from the Project Manager
  • Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration
  • Design MEP systems for commercial, mixed-use, multifamily, retail, hospitality, and restaurant projects throughout the Southeast
  • Work on complex developments involving residential and office space above retail, structured parking, specialty lighting, restaurant exhaust, and flexible tenant systems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • OR Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred
  • 3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • OR 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in producing technical plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as related to electrical systems design for buildings
  • Proficiency with lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, and Visual Lighting
  • Proficiency with power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW and Easy Power
  • Proficiency in BIM software and CTC Revit Add In Tools
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards
  • Proficiency with ComCheck, Adobe or Bluebeam Revu, NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and FGI resources
  • Proficiency in Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit
  • Knowledge of Master Specification editing and eSPECS
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays
  • Engineering In Training (EIT) Certification preferred
