About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead design efforts for analysis of electrical systems using engineering software and tools
- Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations to code and IMEG standards
- Perform site assessments and generate detailed analysis and technical reports
- Partner with clients to understand needs and gather project requirements
- Communicate technical information and build client relationships
- Review electrical system designs, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence
- Implement IMEG quality control processes
- Train, mentor, and motivate staff
- Provide technical assistance resolving field issues with limited support from senior staff
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices
- Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts
- Prioritize safety and identify and mitigate electrical-system safety risks
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers on integrated solutions
- Participate in project interviews and presentations
- Lead design efforts as project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex building projects
- Provide project direction, engineering solutions, and implementation oversight
- Support larger, high-complexity projects
- Manage project budgets and collaborate across disciplines on education-focused work
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- Minimum 7 years of experience in the building design consulting industry
- Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills, including circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics
- Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards
- Knowledge of NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI) reference materials
- Advanced proficiency in Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS
- Proficiency with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
- Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
- Ability to perform final quality control checks in area of expertise
- Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
