About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead mechanical design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex projects
  • Support delivery of larger, high-complexity projects
  • Analyze HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
  • Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards
  • Perform site assessments and prepare technical reports
  • Gather project requirements and communicate technical information to clients
  • Maintain client relationships
  • Conduct design reviews and quality control processes
  • Provide technical training, mentoring, and assistance resolving field issues
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on integrated solutions
  • Coordinate, oversee, and manage projects
  • Assist with scopes of work, fee calculations, proposal generation, and contract reviews
  • Create project schedules and manage milestones and deadlines
  • Serve as point of contact for teams and clients
  • Prepare monthly billings and financial information
  • Ensure compliance with owner, IMEG, and code requirements
  • Coordinate design and construction scheduling
  • Lead progress meetings and document outcomes
  • Conduct construction site visits
  • Resolve client and construction concerns and manage change orders
  • Support high-performance, energy-efficient mechanical design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required in the building design consulting industry
  • Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts for technical plans and specifications
  • Advanced technical and analytical proficiency in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics
  • Mechanical design experience involving HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
  • Strong training, mentoring, and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in project management technical aspects
  • Ability to perform final quality control checks
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
