About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead analysis and design of structural systems using various building materials
  • Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools according to code requirements and IMEG standards
  • Work with clients to understand project needs, gather requirements, and communicate technical information
  • Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication
  • Support consulting project execution as part of a project team
  • Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling efforts
  • Document design decisions and client instructions, and monitor design progress, percent complete, and fee expended
  • Analyze engineering problems and develop practical, efficient solutions with senior engineers and consultants
  • Perform in-process reviews of structural designs, calculations, and specifications
  • Implement quality control processes to meet IMEG, industry, and client standards
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and structural engineering best practices
  • Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager
  • Support projects through bidding, design, and construction administration phases

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • 2 years of experience minimum required; 4 years preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts used to produce technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, including mechanics and materials, load paths, and structural design standards for steel, concrete, wood, and masonry
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
  • Proficiency with industry-standard engineering software and structural engineering design and analysis software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
  • Proficiency in BIM software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays
  • Master’s Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferred
