About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead design efforts for IT structured cabling, audio/video, security, and other low-voltage building systems
  • Use engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards
  • Interact with clients to understand needs, gather requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain client relationships
  • Support consulting project execution as part of a project team
  • Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives
  • Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring design progress, percent complete, and fee expenditure
  • Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative, practical solutions with senior engineers and consultants
  • Conduct in-process design reviews and implement quality-control processes
  • Stay current with low-voltage technology engineering trends, emerging technologies, and best practices
  • Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts
  • Prioritize safety and mitigate risks associated with low-voltage ICT systems
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Work within project budgets and train, mentor, and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Identify project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager
  • Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phases

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer or related Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, related STEM field, or equivalent required; or associate degree/certificate in BIM or Engineering with the alternative experience path
  • Option A: minimum 3 years of experience, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Option B: minimum 7 years of experience, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts for technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills involving electrical voltage/current, digital and analog signals, basic IT networking topologies and protocols, and low-voltage systems design
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
  • Proficiency with industry-standard engineering software and tools
  • Proficiency in BIM software
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing
  • Collaborative team working ability
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
