About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Model new data structures and safely modify existing schemas based on evolving application requirements
Work across relational SQL and document-based MongoDB databases, selecting optimal data models and access patterns
Resolve data-quality, consistency, and performance issues in production applications
Troubleshoot complex data flows between API and database layers
Collaborate with backend, front-end, and product teams on application features and scalable data solutions
Review database code and schemas
Safely deploy database changes into production using Continuous Delivery practices
Define and contribute to data-quality standards, testing strategies, and automated testing frameworks

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience delivering, shipping, and maintaining production software solutions
Deep production experience with Microsoft SQL Server
Experience with relational schema design, complex query development, stored procedures, indexing strategies, and performance optimization
Hands-on experience with MongoDB, including document modeling, schema design, and integration with relational systems
Strong understanding of JSON, REST APIs, database security, testing, and data movement through application services
Strong experience using distributed version-control systems, including Git/GitHub
Familiarity with agile software-development practices
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional attention to detail and a practical approach to quality, simplicity, and timely delivery
Candidates must overlap at least 4–5 hours daily with US-based stakeholders aligned to Central Time (CT), USA)
Nice to have: experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) or Microsoft Fabric
Nice to have: experience supporting broader data pipelines
Nice to have: working knowledge of Python
Nice to have: experience with JavaScript, Node.js, or Joi
