About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and develop an existing book of personal lines business, focusing on client retention, renewal preparation, and relationship management.
- Anticipate client needs and identify opportunities to improve coverage and protect evolving assets and lifestyles.
- Handle client inquiries and account needs in person, by phone, online, and through written communication.
- Provide timely follow-up and ensure client requests and account activity are handled accurately and professionally.
- Present policies and coverage recommendations, explaining coverage options, limits, deductibles, exclusions, and premiums.
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new personal lines opportunities.
- Develop new business through referrals, networking, prospecting, account rounding, cross-selling, and re-engagement of former clients.
- Prepare insurance proposals and quotations, communicate coverage options, and close new business.
- Process and bind coverage and follow up on inspections, photographs, documentation, and underwriting requirements.
- Monitor performance metrics and sales activity to achieve individual and agency goals.
- Maintain accurate documentation of sales and account activity.
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment.
- Share knowledge, answer questions, and provide guidance to team members.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and agency initiatives.
- Follow agency processes and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.
- Stay current on industry trends, carrier products, underwriting guidelines, legislation, technology, and coverage developments.
- Continuously expand insurance knowledge and professional skills.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active Property & Casualty (P&C) license required.
- Minimum 2 years of personal lines insurance account management experience.
- Strong working knowledge of personal lines insurance products, coverages, rating procedures, underwriting guidelines, and industry practices.
- Demonstrated success in insurance sales, business development, or relationship-based selling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex insurance concepts to clients.
- Client-focused and relationship-oriented with the confidence to be professionally assertive when identifying and recommending coverage solutions.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple accounts and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and complete complex assignments with minimal supervision.
- Strong computer and technology skills, including experience with agency management systems.
- Applied Epic experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- Maintain required continuing education and insurance licensing.
- Willingness to work in the office 2 to 3 days per week.
