About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop electronics from requirements definition through design, development, prototyping, verification, production readiness, reliability and cost optimization
- Author and run development test plans and test reports
- Design for international regulatory compliance, including UKCA, CE and UL, EMC, manufacturability, reliability and production testing
- Produce accurate documentation throughout the design and development process
- Support component selection, pricing and lead-time data for design and manufacturing operations
- Review schematics, layouts and documents generated by other team members
- Triage, investigate and perform root-cause analysis of production test failures
- Rework, modify and repair electronic assemblies and PCBAs
- Undertake reliability and accelerated life testing
- Perform other reasonable tasks aligned with business requirements
- Potentially progress into an Acting Electronics Lead role with increased responsibility
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree-qualified in Electronics Engineering or equivalent, with related experience preferably within electric vehicle charging or consumer product development
- 10+ years of demonstrable experience within electronic sub-assembly development for volume production
- Schematic capture and PCB design using modern tools KiCAD (preferred) or Altium etc.
- Design for Manufacture, DFMEAs/Reliability analysis
- Investigation and resolution of EMC non-compliances
- Version control of design files using Github
- Good attention to detail for producing technical documentation
- Demonstrable understanding of high technology product development
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Knowledge of operating within an ISO 9001 quality system
- IPC Certified – Rework, modification & repair of electronic assemblies (desirable)
- Understanding of EV charging systems and related standards (IEC 61851 etc) (desirable)
- Use of project tools including JIRA and Confluence (desirable)
