About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Create and maintain software sold by Inductive Automation, LLC
- Participate in all phases of product development: design, specification, implementation, testing, building, deployment, documentation, support, and maintenance
- Interact with customers to troubleshoot products or obtain requirements when needed
- Independently own the full lifecycle of projects or features, including engineering design, development, and deployment
- Improve code structure and architecture for testability and maintainability
- Write, co-write, and review design documentation
- Maintain high proficiency in one or more technical areas
- Prioritize unowned or undesirable work that enables team velocity
- Ensure work meets quality standards
- Collaborate with the team and adjacent teams to solve problems
- Escalate problems with wider scope
- Assist and teach other engineers individually
- Complete thoughtful, constructive code reviews promptly
- Own one or more product areas or an individual-contributor leadership role such as Product Lead or Scrum Master
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3–5 years of software engineering or software development experience
- Comprehensive understanding of computer science concepts
- Expertise in object-oriented design, multi-threaded architecture, data structures, algorithms, and cybersecurity
- Hands-on programming experience with Java and/or TypeScript
- Experience with IntelliJ or equivalent, Git, and Webpack
- Proficiency in SQL or a relational database, including querying, schema design, and stored procedures
- Experience ingesting data at scale through high-volume, high-frequency, or streaming data pipelines
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Passion for building user-focused applications
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working on a team using agile methodologies
- Ability to develop highly responsive and performant applications using concurrency and multi-threading
- Familiarity with time-series data concepts (strongly preferred)
- Knowledge of industrial data standards OPC-DA, OPC-UA, MQTT, and Modbus (strongly preferred)
- Experience writing historian connectors, adapters, or APIs (strongly preferred)
- Background in operational-data pipeline or ETL development (strongly preferred)
- Must live within the United States
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must not require employment visa sponsorship
