About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Understand customer processes and technical challenges; define measurement requirements and recommend appropriate INFICON solutions
  • Perform application assessments, feasibility studies and technical troubleshooting involving vacuum measurement, leak detection, residual gas analysis and thin-film monitoring technologies
  • Support customers with installation, commissioning and optimization of solutions
  • Analyze measurement data to identify root causes of vacuum and process issues
  • Develop application-specific demonstrations, proofs-of-concept and test plans
  • Collaborate with Sales, KAMs and SAMs to identify and qualify technical opportunities
  • Participate in customer visits, technical discussions and RFQ responses
  • Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations and proofs-of-concept
  • Develop technical and commercial value propositions based on customer needs
  • Create technical proposals and support solution positioning
  • Lead or contribute to customer projects from initial requirements through successful deployment
  • Define acceptance criteria and application KPIs
  • Coordinate with Service and internal teams during installation and commissioning
  • Follow up post-deployment to ensure customer satisfaction and identify upsell opportunities
  • Document application knowledge and create reusable application guides and troubleshooting procedures
  • Build and maintain expertise across vacuum fundamentals, pressure measurement, leak detection, RGA, pumping systems and coating applications
  • Share customer insights with Product Management and Business Units
  • Identify recurring customer challenges and propose new applications or solutions
  • Develop internal and external training materials; coach colleagues and customers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Vacuum Technology, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Typically 3–7 years of experience in vacuum technology, instrumentation, process engineering, applications engineering, service engineering or a related industrial environment
  • Solid knowledge of vacuum technology, vacuum system design and vacuum processes
  • Understanding of pressure measurement principles and vacuum instrumentation, including gauges, controllers and measurement systems
  • Experience working directly with customers is strongly preferred
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Additional languages are an asset
  • Experience in an international environment is an advantage
  • Willingness to travel regularly (30%) within EMEA
