About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the day-to-day health of customer infrastructure across Azure and on-premises environments
Monitor availability, performance and capacity, taking action before issues affect customers
Maintain secure configurations, access controls and patching standards
Ensure vulnerabilities are addressed within agreed timescales
Act as an escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents
Diagnose issues across servers, storage, virtualisation, networking and cloud services
Convert root-cause findings into preventative improvements
Plan and deliver patches, upgrades and maintenance with change control, testing and rollback planning
Maintain backup, restore and disaster-recovery readiness
Identify ways to make customer environments more stable, secure and efficient
Provide recommendations for service improvement, optimisation and modernisation
Collaborate with Service Desk, Cyber Security and project teams
Create runbooks, accurate records and effective knowledge transfer
Ensure newly delivered infrastructure solutions are supportable from day one

Requirements

What you’ll need

Credible experience with Windows Server, Azure infrastructure, identity, networking, virtualisation, storage and backup technologies
Ability to work across Azure and on-premises environments
Experience with infrastructure health, performance and capacity monitoring
Knowledge of secure configurations, access controls and patching standards
Ability to address vulnerabilities within agreed timescales
Understanding of Cyber Essentials and ISO 27001 expectations
Experience diagnosing complex issues across servers, storage, virtualisation, networking and cloud services
Experience planning and delivering patches, upgrades and maintenance with change control, testing and rollback planning
Knowledge of backup, restore and disaster-recovery readiness
Ability to create runbooks, accurate records and effective knowledge transfer
Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple customer environments
Azure hybrid certification, particularly AZ-800 and AZ-801, provides a strong foundation for the role
