About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Act as a bridge between the development team, client architects, and other vendor teams, ensuring technical decisions are clearly understood, aligned, and carried through
Own the technical direction of the backend, from software architecture to key design decisions, weighing tradeoffs
Communicate technical decisions clearly to clients and stakeholders, and challenge unsuitable solutions
Champion AI use across the team and turn new tools and practices into delivery improvements
Set and maintain engineering standards for code reviews, testing, and coding conventions
Define technical project scope and contribute to project estimation
Mentor and support team members
Collaborate with other Tech Leads and the Team Director on team-wide initiatives
Share knowledge through internal education, Infinum Talks, or blog posts
Participate in hiring and candidate evaluation

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of backend development, including 2+ years in a leading role (Tech Lead, System Architect, or Lead Engineer)
In-depth knowledge of Java
Experience leading at least one complex project involving performance, scale, a large domain, or multiple teams and services
Experience in defining or significantly shaping system architecture
Solid understanding of distributed systems
Experience working on large client projects involving multiple vendors and stakeholders
Experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Hands-on experience with AI tools in development and a clear understanding of how they’re changing the way teams work
Excellent command of English
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders
Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings
Bonus: experience working on event-driven systems
