About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the Standards and Products Team
  • Own the strategic direction, governance and continuous improvement of Minimum Asset Standards (MAS), Design Manuals and Standard Products
  • Define and deliver Anglian Water’s engineering standards and standard products strategy
  • Align standards with the Chief Engineer’s Office, Commercial Operations and alliance partners
  • Lead team priorities, manage external relationships and foster a culture of safety, professionalism and technical excellence
  • Oversee continuous improvement of MAS, Design Manuals and Specifications
  • Ensure alignment with CESWI, WIMES and British Standards
  • Lead development and governance of standard products and proven designs
  • Drive adoption of standard solutions that improve quality and reduce cost and carbon
  • Operate robust governance processes for evidence-based, transparent and trusted standards
  • Collaborate with designers, construction teams, operators, commercial teams, regulators and alliance partners
  • Promote understanding and adoption of standards through communication, accessible systems and targeted training
  • Coach, mentor and develop team members

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree in a relevant discipline
  • Desirable: Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) status with a relevant professional body
  • Experience in engineering design or construction, ideally within water, networks or regulated infrastructure
  • Leadership and line management experience
  • Strong technical judgement, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Experience coaching, mentoring and developing others
  • Experience of working in an environment with regulatory, safety etc constraints
  • Ability to influence across organisational boundaries and balance technical rigour with commercial and operational realities
  • Resilient, adaptable and comfortable navigating complex technical and stakeholder challenges
