About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead end-to-end technical design across PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter and/or BillingCenter
- Own configure-versus-customise decisions and maintain design consistency across workstreams
- Facilitate discovery workshops and fit-gap sessions
- Support business analysts in converting business requirements into user stories, functional specifications and technical specifications
- Oversee configuration, product model, UI, rules, workflows and integrations
- Conduct design and code reviews against Guidewire best practice
- Shape integration patterns with rating engines, document generation, payments, CRM, data platforms and third-party data providers using Cloud APIs, App Events, messaging and plugins
- Assess upcoming Guidewire releases for impact and value and feed findings into release plans and upgrade paths
- Serve as escalation point for complex technical and functional defects across SIT, UAT and hypercare
- Mentor and motivate technical analysts and developers
- Contribute to the practice's Guidewire accelerators and assets
- Produce and maintain solution designs, technical specifications, process flows and operational handover materials
- Act as technical and functional anchor and day-to-day advisor to client stakeholders
- Lead Guidewire programmes from greenfield implementations through Guidewire Cloud migrations
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years in insurance technology, with at least 5 years on Guidewire implementations and at least 2 full lifecycles in a lead or design authority role
- Hands-on depth in at least one of PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter or BillingCenter, and working knowledge of the others
- Strong product model/Product Designer, rules and the integration framework
- Exposure to Guidewire Cloud Platform and an on-premise to cloud upgrade
- Experience with Agile (Scrum/SAFe) and Waterfall, and with hybrid delivery on multi-vendor programmes
- Clear, confident communication with business users, underwriters, claims handlers and IT leadership
- A background in process re-engineering or change management
- Ability to stay composed in fast-moving environments and spot risks early
- Guidewire certification (Associate/Specialist/ACE) preferred
- Experience in at least one of personal lines (motor, home), commercial lines (property, casualty, fleet) or specialty
- Awareness of Lloyd's and the London market, including MGAs, delegated authority, bordereaux, coverholders and ACORD standards, is a strong plus
- Awareness of FCA Consumer Duty, Solvency II and IFRS 17 data implications is a strong plus
- Experience with reinsurance touchpoints such as treaty and facultative arrangements and ceded recoveries
- Exposure to AI and GenAI use cases on Guidewire is desirable
- Guidewire DataHub/InfoCenter or analytics experience is desirable
