About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead all stages of hydro, wind, solar, and storage project development from power purchase agreement signing through commissioning
- Manage scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and coordination of internal and external stakeholders
- Manage environmental assessments, coordinate consultant studies, and secure municipal, provincial, and federal permits
- Develop and implement community consultation and engagement strategies
- Organize and lead public information sessions and build stakeholder relationships
- Oversee acquisition, control, and management of project land
- Manage relationships with landowners, local partners, and Indigenous communities where applicable
- Structure and manage business partnerships with local project partners through advanced development and construction
- Develop interconnection strategies and engage relevant authorities
- Ensure a smooth hand-off to Construction while maintaining responsibility for development aspects through commissioning
- Provide post-commissioning support for environmental or social matters
- Track project progress, report to management, and maintain proactive stakeholder communication
Requirements
What you’ll need- Over 5 years of experience in project development, ideally in the renewable energy sector
- University degree in engineering, environmental studies, urban planning, social sciences, or a related field
- Proven experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects in regulated environments
- Strong understanding of environmental, land use, and social issues related to energy projects
- Demonstrated leadership, political acumen, sound judgment, and excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Experience in partnership management, contract drafting and negotiation is an asset
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment, manage multiple priorities, and navigate diverse contexts (urban, rural, Indigenous)
- Willingness to travel across Canada and North America (approximately 30%)
- Bilingualism (French and English, written and spoken) is required
