About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Track and report on project profitability
- Collaborate with project teams, clients, and internal departments to support financial performance and clinical research project management services
- Review client agreements and convert them into the internal cost structure
- Create and configure projects in project management and financial systems
- Prepare and upload project budgets and amendments
- Identify and assess pricing for out-of-scope services
- Recognize revenue and expenses according to Canadian GAAP and contractual requirements
- Create journal entries for accruals and project allocation
- Review actual revenues and costs against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and causes
- Prepare and present project financial reports, including profit and loss statements, financial projections, accrual reports, and invoicing status
- Monitor project balance sheet accounts and maintain accurate financial records
- Review project invoicing and ensure invoices are produced and paid at study completion
- Serve as the main client contact for invoicing questions
- Work with project managers on project requirements, budgets, and financial implications
- Provide financial guidance to project teams to manage budgets and control costs
- Facilitate financial review meetings with project managers and clients
- Support internal and external audits with financial documentation
- Identify process improvements and contribute to improved financial processes and tools
- Perform other assigned responsibilities when qualified and appropriately trained
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- CPA certification, an asset
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in project accounting
- Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English
- Professional judgment and proven interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Critical thinking and proactive problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with financial management tools and office software (Excel, Power BI, ERP)
- Comfortable working in an environment in constant evolution
- Legally authorized to work in Poland
