About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Act as the technical owner for biometric solutions delivered to customers
Design solutions for identity document and passport issuance, national elections, criminal investigation, border crossings, e-gates, and identity verification
Write migration code and build tooling to move real data into customer solutions
Prove solutions work and explain them to customer stakeholders
Collaborate across solution clusters, R&D, product, support and pre-sales
Learn solution clusters broadly, then specialize in one cluster
Explain biometric concepts including enrolment, verification, identification, templates, matching, accuracy and thresholds
Learn and follow requirements for handling biometric data before accessing datasets
Shadow and deliver customer training
Improve technical documentation
Learn and integrate solution APIs
Compare environments and assess differences and impacts
Serve as primary engineer and customer's technical counterpart
Run live data migrations and produce quality and deduplication analyses
Perform gap analyses and sizing; support proofs of concept
Deliver customer training independently
Write and explain Factory Acceptance Tests, quality analyses and deduplication reports
Plan, run and report migrations independently
Assess accuracy against independent benchmarks
Use Solution Management tools
Serve as technical reference for a solution cluster
Run multiple technical implementations from conception to deployment
Advise customers and colleagues
Lead complex biometric migrations and third-party integrations
Feed project learnings into the product roadmap

Requirements

What you’ll need

Programming in at least one mainstream language — Java, C#, Python, Go or similar — with recent hands-on work
Working SQL and ability to read an unfamiliar schema
Ability to analyze real datasets
Ability to turn customer needs into scope, assumptions and risks
Ability to design solutions end to end, including data models, use cases, roles and permissions
Ability to document technical decisions
Ability to manage scope, changes and expectations, including saying no with options attached
Spoken and written English for analyses, diagrams and presentations
University degree in a technical field such as computer science, engineering, mathematics or similar; business or economics degree accepted with real hands-on engineering experience
Flexibility and willingness to travel on short business trips
English and French fluent
