About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build innovative tools enabling scientists and students to discover, transform, update, and improve Earth Science data
  • Perform operations, maintenance, and development for NASA Earthdata Cloud
  • Support NASA’s Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS) Evolution and Development 3 contract
  • Ensure adherence to operational agreements and policies, including response times
  • Ensure compliance with program and NASA standards and requirements, including Section 508 compliance
  • Apply industry best practices for automation and scalability of assets
  • Implement issue detection and alerts
  • Analyze current cloud infrastructure and define, plan, communicate, and implement improvement solutions
  • Work in a fast-paced Agile development environment with customers, management, and team contributors

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • At least 3 years of engineering experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience using cloud services in an IaaS or PaaS environment
  • In-depth knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS), including networking and serverless services such as Lambda and Step Functions
  • 3 years of programming/scripting experience in Node.js, TypeScript, C++, Bash, Python, and Java, particularly within an Agile development environment
  • Experience supporting infrastructure and operations using DevOps automation tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform, and CloudFormation
  • Knowledge of high availability, data replication, and real-time recovery in failure situations
  • Familiarity with AWS DevOps services, including Terraform and IAM
  • Ability to automate processes, build software tools, and create infrastructure-as-code solutions in a DevOps environment
  • Ability to analyze cloud infrastructure and plan, communicate, and implement improvement solutions
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with customers, management, and individual contributors
  • Experience with Linux OS, Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo, and GitLab
  • Full lifecycle software design and development experience on large/complex n-tier client/server applications
  • AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Developer certification
  • Experience with JIRA/Confluence
  • Experience with Agile/SAFe methodology
