About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage, mentor, and direct a team of Systems Designers, including coaching, career development, performance management, hiring, interviewing, and training
  • Oversee and directly perform design, prototyping, iteration, and polish of gameplay systems including player mechanics, non-combat systems, world simulation, economy, progression, and game balance
  • Prototype, implement, and iterate gameplay systems using proprietary internal tools and scripting systems
  • Lead development pods of cross-discipline contributors as needed
  • Collaborate with Gameplay Programming, Design Director, Game Director, Project Management, and other studio Systems Design staff
  • Write and update gameplay system documentation and create tutorial videos
  • Plan and maintain systems design schedules, priorities, milestones, and work assignments
  • Review work in progress, gather feedback, drive iteration and quality, and ensure milestone quality targets
  • Create, track, and enforce design standards and metrics across the game experience
  • Run brainstorms and reviews, build buy-in and alignment, and champion design vision and values
  • Create a safe, supportive, and creative work environment
  • Perform other managerial and creative duties as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience with level editing tools and scripting (Unreal Engine, Unity, or similar editors)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Maya or other major 3D modeling programs
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Very good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with team members and other developers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Background check at offer stage for new employees
  • Adobe Illustrator experience and UE4 Blueprint scripting skills are a plus
