About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop the scientific excellence section of a Horizon Europe geothermal research proposal
- Set out research objectives and explain the methodology
- Make a compelling case for the project's novelty
- Draft and integrate the approximately 45-page full proposal
- Turn partners' scientific contributions into clear, persuasive proposal text
- Build a coherent account of the research rationale, innovation and methodology
- Identify gaps and work with experts to strengthen the scientific narrative
- Align the proposal with the call's scope and evaluation criteria
- Integrate feedback and maintain consistency of the final document
- Work to agreed milestones and respond promptly to consortium feedback
Requirements
What you’ll need- PhD in geology
- Judgement to critically assess and synthesise complex research
- Excellent written English
- Example of clear, persuasive scientific writing
- Strong organisation
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a team
- Availability for a concentrated period of writing and revision through 1 December 2026
- Experience in geothermal research, deep sedimentary or basement reservoirs, or related subsurface research is advantageous
- Previous funding-proposal experience is not required
- Formal postdoctoral employment is not required
