About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the monthly accounting and reconciliation of revenue, collections, and deferred revenue across multiple locations and revenue streams
  • Ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Analyze and account for deferred revenue related to customer packages, memberships, gift cards, prepaid services, and other customer liabilities
  • Prepare journal entries related to revenue, deferred revenue, refunds, discounts, promotions, breakage, and other revenue-related activity
  • Review revenue trends and investigate unusual fluctuations or variances
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate manual accounting processes related to reconciliations, data analysis, reporting, and month-end close
  • Leverage AI and automation tools, including Claude, ChatGPT, and similar technologies, to improve accounting workflows
  • Work with Finance, Operations, and IT to resolve system integration and data issues affecting revenue reporting
  • Support internal and external audit requests related to revenue and deferred revenue
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate accounting implications of new products, services, promotions, and customer programs
  • Assist with other accounting projects and initiatives as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • CPA or active progress toward CPA certification preferred but not required
  • 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably including revenue accounting, revenue recognition, or complex balance sheet reconciliations
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and revenue recognition principles
  • Experience with deferred revenue, customer deposits, gift cards, memberships, packages, or prepaid services preferred
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills, with experience working with large volumes of data
  • Experience with ERP and operational or customer management systems
  • Experience and/or high interest in using AI or automation tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Power Query, and/or similar technologies
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently
