About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Analyze federal grant programs, including expenditures, budgets, and financial reports, for accuracy and compliance
  • Monitor fiscal performance of grants awarded to states, tribes, and nonprofit organizations
  • Evaluate cost allocation plans, budget justifications, and drawdown activity against federal regulations and funding agreements
  • Prepare financial summaries, dashboards, and risk assessments for program oversight and decision-making
  • Collaborate with internal teams and grantees to resolve financial discrepancies and provide technical assistance
  • Support financial components of site visits, monitoring reviews, and audit readiness
  • Develop tools, templates, and processes to improve financial tracking and reporting
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks across grant portfolios
  • Perform ad hoc duties and protect sensitive and confidential information

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A degree in accounting, or a degree in business administration, finance, or public administration that includes or is supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting, financial management, or financial analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in financial analysis and monitoring of federal grants administered by states, tribes, or nonprofit organizations
  • One of the following: 24 semester hours in financial management courses (including up to 6 hours in business law); a valid CPA or CIA certificate obtained through written examination; at least four years of experience in financial management or financial analysis; or an equivalent combination of college-level education, professional training, and work experience
  • Skilled in MS Office 2016 or higher: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, multitask, prioritize assignments, and work independently and in teams
  • Ability to report work activity promptly

  • Must pass post-hire background screening checks
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance if required by the client or contract
  • Wired and/or wireless internet access for remote work
  • Occasional travel required
