About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Review new policies from incoming commission statements and input them into the Agency Management System
Generate outgoing commission advances and agent earnings
Reconcile incoming commission payments to expected schedules and resolve differences
Communicate with insurance companies about missing or incorrect payments, policy and agent statuses, and commission matters
Generate reports related to incoming carrier payments and outgoing agent payments
Scan and file commission statements
Manage a commissions team of 10–15 analysts
Manage agent calls and emails related to commissions
Develop or improve operating procedures for efficient accounting
Perform complex financial transactions accurately
Balance account statements and correct financial errors
Perform weekly quality oversight activities for individuals and carriers
Lead, support, and coach commission accounting associates
Provide backup to the Commission Accounting Manager and Commission Accounting Analysts
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Proficient computer skills and excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel
Management experience and strong people skills to lead and coach others
Ability to solve complex problems and communicate effectively at all levels
Sound organizational skills and accuracy calculating commission premiums and percentages
Ability to work independently with high accuracy in a fast-paced environment
Experience with system testing and documenting new processes preferred
Insurance industry experience preferred
CPA preferred
Four-year degree in Mathematics, Accounting, or a related field preferred
