About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Establish qubit processes and design rules with lithography, process integration, measurement, and PDK engineers
- Architect qubit and readout standard-cell designs and automation
- Create qubit process files, models, extraction capabilities, and customized EDA tools with PDK engineers and vendors
- Analyze quantum error-correction and qubit-topology tradeoffs with quantum software and control engineers
- Develop front-end design automation, routing generation, and automated place-and-route flows for large-scale quantum processors
- Optimize routing using AI and machine learning for large I/O counts
- Define routing strategies and perform signal-integrity, crosstalk, and thermal analysis
- Execute qubit-processor designs from PDK implementation through tapeout, fab NPI, and silicon runs
- Perform DRC, LVS, ERC, extraction, and other design validations before signoff
- Co-design interposer interfaces and routing strategies with control, packaging, and system teams
- Design and tape out electrical characterization test structures
- Implement and maintain quantum PDK collateral, customized design environments, and workflows
- Support external customers using Intel's quantum PDK and ensure successful tapeouts and end-of-line silicon runs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree with 4 years of experience, Master's degree with 3 years of experience, or Ph.D. degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Cryogenic Engineering, Quantum Technologies, Quantum Engineering, or related Engineering field
- 1+ years of experience with at least one of: electromagnetic modeling and simulation tools for signal integrity/crosstalk analysis; standard cell design and design automation flow implementation; digital design tools and APR-based routing; mainstream foundry process PDK design and industry-standard validations; or PDK collateral and design-flow implementation
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Keen experimental insight and practical implementation ability

- Leadership potential to drive independent R+D initiatives
- Passion for quantum technology development
- Preferred: 1+ years of experience with electrical measurement of qubits, quantum devices, transistors, or integrated circuits; process integration; dilution refrigerators or cryogenic systems; RFIC design or cryogenic qubit control; superconducting circuits/interconnects; Python or other scripting; machine learning or AI routing algorithms; or customized EDA solutions
