About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee all operational and reporting accounting; maintain the general ledger and company books and records
- Own the monthly close and consolidation, including account reconciliations, and improve the close timeline
- Oversee invoicing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
- Own partner revenue share calculations and payouts; review and audit sales commissions and MBO payouts
- Work with HR on variable and year-end compensation
- Design, implement, and monitor financial processes, policies, and controls
- Serve as primary contact for the external audit firm and complete the annual audit on time
- Partner with management on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Work with Sales, Professional Services, and Legal on order-to-cash handoffs, contract terms, subscription start dates, and invoice timing
- Lead implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement of accounting systems including QuickBooks Online, Salesforce, Ramp, and Gusto
- Automate repetitive finance workflows using AI
- Use AI to review transactions, flag anomalies, draft variance commentary, board and investor summaries, and audit support schedules
- Establish AI governance covering privacy, confidentiality, review, documentation, and approved tools
- Train finance and partner teams on AI use and track efficiency and accuracy gains
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of relevant accounting experience
- 3+ years as Controller, or equivalent experience as an Assistant Controller at a medium to large enterprise
- Significant experience managing accounting for high-transaction-volume, recurring-revenue businesses, ideally SaaS or fintech
- Proven track record running an efficient close and using systems to automate and remove manual processes
- Hands-on experience applying AI tools to accounting or finance work, or a demonstrated ability to learn and adopt them quickly
- Strong QuickBooks and Excel skills
- Experience with Salesforce, Ramp, or similar tools is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and comfort working across teams
- CPA, public accounting, and FP&A experience preferred but not required
- Must be located in the United States
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.; the company does not sponsor visas or employ individuals who require work authorization outside the United States
