About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop services and APIs using Java or Kotlin
- Implement frontend functionality with TypeScript and React/Preact
- Integrate order management, marketplace, carrier, and other third-party systems through robust interfaces
- Develop event-driven integrations, including with Apache Kafka
- Build applications and data flows related to orders, shipping, tracking, returns, and partner performance
- Work with AWS and actively contribute to infrastructure and deployments through Infrastructure as Code
- Ensure high software quality and platform stability through automated testing, code reviews, monitoring, and observability
- Contribute to architectural and technology decisions and help advance shared engineering standards
- Work closely with Product Management, Data, and the business
- Take ownership of solutions from concept through production operation
- Use modern AI-assisted development tools and evaluate their results
Requirements
What you’ll need- Several years of experience in full-stack or backend software development
- Strong knowledge of Java or Kotlin and experience with modern backend architectures and APIs
- Good knowledge of TypeScript and a modern frontend framework, ideally React or Preact
- Experience with Apache Kafka or comparable event-streaming technologies and distributed systems
- Experience with AWS or a comparable cloud platform
- Knowledge of SQL and/or NoSQL databases
- Experience with automated testing and a strong commitment to maintainable, testable code
- Understanding of CI/CD, monitoring, and observability
- Independent, pragmatic, and team-oriented working style
- German at least at B2 level and fluent English
- Nice to have: Experience with fulfillment, order management, logistics, or marketplace systems
- Nice to have: Knowledge of carrier, tracking, or shipping processes
- Nice to have: Experience with Pulumi, Terraform, or AWS CDK
- Nice to have: Knowledge of AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, SQS, API Gateway, or DynamoDB
- Nice to have: Experience with micro-frontends or self-contained systems
- Nice to have: Knowledge of Playwright, Jest/Vitest, JUnit, or Testcontainers
- Nice to have: Experience with Python
- Nice to have: Experience in e-commerce, marketplace, or platform environments
