About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide professional legal advice, counsel, and guidance supporting development, construction, finance, and management of Invenergy’s renewable and clean energy portfolio
  • Provide legal support to project development, commercial execution, finance, and capital markets teams on commercial transactions
  • Advise on power purchase and similar offtake agreements, build-transfer agreements, commodity and currency hedge and trading agreements, interconnection agreements, EPC agreements, equipment supply agreements, operations and maintenance agreements, debt financing, cash and tax equity financing, and joint venture agreements
  • Provide guidance on transaction structuring
  • Support drafting and negotiation of project and financing documentation
  • Select and efficiently manage sophisticated outside counsel
  • Ensure consistency across transactions and compliance with internal policies
  • Provide legal advice and support in other areas of the company as needed
  • Work overtime and travel at times

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • JD degree
  • Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state
  • 5-7+ years of experience within a law firm or as in-house counsel supporting utility scale energy project development, finance and M&A transactions
  • Experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on sophisticated energy-related project development, finance and M&A documentation
  • Proven ability as a legal lead to drive transactions to successful completion
  • Experience researching and analyzing applicable laws and regulations
  • Experience conducting due diligence reviews
  • Experience managing transaction closings
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders under minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to relay complex concepts to members of management
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to work overtime and travel at times
