About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and manage functional safety activities in accordance with ISO 26262 and applicable safety standards such as IEC 61508
  • Conduct and review HARA, FMEA, FTA, and FMEDA safety analyses
  • Develop and maintain functional and technical safety concepts, safety requirements, and safety cases throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Define and implement functional safety plans, verification strategies, and safety-related development processes
  • Support integration of safety requirements into system, hardware, and software development
  • Act as a technical contact for clients and lead safety-related discussions, workshops, and technical reviews
  • Identify safety risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and ensure the quality and completeness of safety deliverables
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project managers on project execution
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and consultants
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and continuous improvement through INVENSITY's Academy and technical communities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • 5–7 years of professional experience in functional safety engineering, preferably within the automotive industry or other safety-critical environments
  • Strong practical knowledge of ISO 26262 across the product development lifecycle
  • Hands-on experience conducting HARA, FMEA, FTA, and/or FMEDA safety analyses
  • Experience developing functional and technical safety concepts, safety requirements, and safety documentation
  • Understanding of systems engineering processes, the V-model, and hardware/software development lifecycles
  • Experience with safety-related development tools and requirements management systems such as DOORS, Jama, or equivalent
  • Familiarity with IEC 61508 or other industry-specific functional safety standards
  • Ability to independently manage functional safety work packages and coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience providing technical guidance or mentoring junior engineers
  • Proactive, collaborative mindset with a strong sense of ownership and commitment to high-quality engineering solutions
