About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support the design and rollout of a data governance framework covering data ownership, definitions, lineage and retention policies
Translate regulatory requirements such as Consumer Duty, CASS, KYC/AML and GDPR into data controls, monitoring and reporting
Maintain and evolve the analytics glossary, data catalogue and semantic layer
Support internal and external audit requests with documented, reproducible analysis
Build and maintain data transformations and models using SQL and dbt
Automate recurring reports, reconciliations and alerts
Use AI-enabled tools such as Claude and Copilot for analysis, coding, QA and documentation within compliance guardrails
Contribute to version control, peer review and lightweight CI/CD practices
Build and maintain dashboards and reports using modern BI tools
Support wider analytics with ad hoc analysis as the role broadens
Work with the Chief Data Officer on data accuracy, reconciliation and quality
Raise data quality issues and support root-cause analysis
Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Legal, Operations, Product and Commercial stakeholders
Communicate insights and regulatory detail in clear, accessible narratives
Propose and help adopt new tools, architectures and ways of working

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience in a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, Compliance Analyst or similar role
Strong SQL skills
Hands-on experience with dbt, or strong aptitude and willingness to learn modern transformation tooling quickly
Familiarity with data governance and relevant regulatory/compliance topics such as Consumer Duty, CASS, KYC/AML, GDPR, Market Abuse Regulation or data retention is desirable
Demonstrated habit of automating, simplifying or redesigning manual processes
Experience or strong interest in using AI tools for analytical workflows, including AI-assisted coding, prompt engineering and automation of repetitive tasks
Comfortable with version control, including git
Experience with modern BI tools such as Metabase, Lightdash, Omni or Looker
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
Clear written and verbal communication skills, including with non-technical, compliance-focused stakeholders
Confidence to challenge the status quo and propose alternatives
Experience in fintech or financial services is desirable but not essential
