About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Advance the medical strategy within the assigned territory through fair-balanced, evidence-based scientific exchange
  • Deliver scientific and clinical presentations on disease states and Iovance products to internal and external audiences
  • Identify, map, and profile external experts, investigators, advocacy stakeholders, and healthcare systems
  • Develop territory engagement plans and sustain relationships with healthcare professionals and clinical investigators
  • Support publications, advisory boards, investigator-initiated research, and clinical trials as applicable
  • Collect, synthesize, and communicate field medical insights; identify trends and contribute to insight-to-action discussions
  • Provide scientific support for Medical Affairs activities and scientific sessions at key congresses and meetings
  • Plan and execute congress engagement with internal stakeholders
  • Build cross-functional partnerships across Medical Affairs, Clinical Science, Clinical Operations, Market Access, and Commercial
  • Apply problem-solving and prioritization to complex field challenges and recommend medically aligned solutions
  • Provide informal leadership, onboarding support, best-practice sharing, peer mentoring, and capability building
  • Operate in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, company policies, scientific exchange requirements, privacy requirements, and adverse event reporting procedures
  • Adhere to Iovance Biotherapeutics’ core values, policies, procedures, and business ethics
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8–12 years of relevant biopharmaceutical/biotechnology industry experience, including 5–8 years in Medical Affairs and/or an MSL role with increasing scope and independence
  • Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD)
  • Demonstrated capability in needs assessment, facilitation, prioritization, decision making, collaboration, planning and organizing, execution and follow-up, and strong written and verbal communication
  • Meeting management skills and operational capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and align stakeholders within a matrix environment without direct authority
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work within timelines
  • Ability to work effectively within a matrix organization to achieve desired outcomes
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 60% of the time within the assigned territory
  • Ability to travel, usually within the US; field-based position with potential for significant travel
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to move within a home or office environment and transport typical work materials and equipment
  • Ability to review and analyze scientific/medical information and work on a computer for extended periods
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand/wrist motions associated with computer and mobile device use
  • Ability to communicate and exchange information with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to apply sound judgment, analyze and interpret information, solve problems, maintain confidentiality and discretion, manage multiple priorities, and meet timelines
  • Preferred: Experience as an MSL or relevant industry role and experience in oncology/immuno-oncology and/or cellular therapy
  • Preferred: Familiarity with the assigned territory and relevant external experts/healthcare systems
  • Preferred: Understanding of regulatory requirements for field-based personnel
  • Preferred: Demonstrated ability to present effective and influential oral presentations
  • Preferred: Proven ability to coordinate across diverse functions
  • Preferred: Experience managing project budgets
