About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct outreach to disaster survivors and travel to client locations as needed to assess disaster-related unmet needs
- Establish, advance, and complete individualized disaster recovery plans with individuals and families
- Evaluate client circumstances, identify barriers to recovery, and determine appropriate next steps
- Help survivors navigate recovery processes involving multiple agencies, programs, eligibility requirements, and assistance sources
- Provide compassionate, respectful, client-centered support while maintaining professional boundaries
- Conduct timely follow-up to facilitate recovery goals and long-term stability
- Advocate with service providers, benefit programs, community organizations, government agencies, and recovery partners
- Present case information clearly, accurately, and confidentially when seeking resources or assistance
- Identify gaps, conflicting information, or barriers and develop practical solutions
- Research community, governmental, nonprofit, and other recovery resources
- Coordinate referrals and communicate with organizations and partners
- Maintain complete, accurate, timely, and organized electronic case files
- Enter and maintain information in databases, case management systems, and technology platforms
- Use technology to manage caseloads, research, communicate, track activities, and meet reporting requirements
- Review documentation for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and compliance
- Manage multiple cases, deadlines, documentation, and follow-up activities
- Track case progress and ensure required actions are completed on time
- Protect confidential and personally identifiable information and comply with privacy and security requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work or a related field
- Case management experience; one to two years preferred
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information clearly and respectfully
- Demonstrated critical-thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish trust and rapport with individuals and families
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail
- High level of technology proficiency and ability to learn new software, databases, and digital tools quickly
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and manage multiple cases, priorities, deadlines, and follow-up requirements simultaneously
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently
- Ability to work effectively in remote and mobile outreach environments
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours based on client, program, and community needs
- Ability to participate in required training, meetings, and program-related activities
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle for work-related local travel
- Ability to successfully complete required Federal and State-level background checks
