About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage small evaluation projects valued at less than £100k and research strands of larger evaluations
- Oversee project finances, timetables and client relationships
- Apply critical and evaluative thinking to analysis and reporting
- Analyse and triangulate quantitative and qualitative evidence
- Participate in external meetings, presentations and workshops with clients and stakeholders
- Contribute to business development by drafting proposal sections and developing methodological approaches
- Use emerging technologies, including AI tools, to enhance research, analysis, reporting and project delivery
- Clean, integrate and analyse quantitative and qualitative data from primary and secondary sources
- Conduct literature reviews, policy analysis and evidence assessments
- Develop theories of change, logic models, research frameworks and evaluation tools
- Design questionnaires, interview guides and other research materials
- Conduct stakeholder interviews and engage with clients and delivery partners
- Draft reports, presentations and other outputs for government and public sector clients
- Present findings and recommendations
- Contribute to proposals and thought leadership activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience delivering social and/or policy research in a consultancy, research agency, public sector, academic or related environment
- Strong understanding of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
- Excellent written communication skills, with experience drafting reports, presentations or other client-facing outputs
- Strong project management skills, including managing deadlines, prioritising workloads and maintaining high standards of quality
- Experience building effective relationships with colleagues, clients or external stakeholders
- Good numeracy and data-handling skills, including confidence interpreting evidence
- Degree-level qualification, or equivalent professional experience, in a relevant discipline
- Experience working on evaluations of public policies, programmes or services
- Knowledge of the education, skills, digital, transport, planning, manufacturing or innovation policy space
- Experience using statistical or qualitative analysis software such as SPSS, Stata, R or NVivo
- Experience contributing to bids, proposals or business development activities
- Experience presenting findings to clients, stakeholders or senior audiences
- Ability to be based in London, Manchester or Edinburgh and travel to other offices for internal and client meetings
