About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide strategic and operational oversight of international and Canadian programmatic partnerships
  • Strengthen relationships with institutional donors and strategic partners
  • Oversee funding portfolios, including development funding from Global Affairs Canada
  • Ensure compliance with donor and organizational requirements
  • Identify opportunities to expand and strengthen partnerships and programming
  • Directly manage the team responsible for Gifts-in-Kind programming and institutional funding development
  • Lead project management for critical donor-funded development projects
  • Provide strategic leadership on partnership and funding strategies, portfolio performance, risks, and opportunities
  • Oversee projects and partnerships across implementation, reporting, compliance, risk management, and close-out
  • Contribute to departmental planning, priority setting, budgeting, and continuous improvement
  • Lead, coach, and performance-manage the partnerships team
  • Promote collaboration across partnerships, finance, marketing, fundraising, government relations, and communications
  • Support funding proposals, partnership agreements, concept notes, partner identification, assessment, and engagement
  • Represent the organization at internal and external events, donor meetings, peer organizations, coordination bodies, and sector networks
  • Participate in committees, working groups, and sector coordination mechanisms
  • Undertake field and partner visits to strengthen relationships, monitor implementation, assess partner capacity and performance, and identify risks and opportunities
  • Support research, documentation, storytelling, field-based initiatives, and major gifts engagement
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate degree and 3–5 years of experience in community, non-profit, or social services-related work; mix of education and experience considered
  • Strategic relationship development and management experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, influencing, and negotiation skills
  • Experience managing teams, including remote individuals, and supporting team development
  • Ability to exercise sound strategic judgment in complex and evolving contexts
  • Experience managing financial resources and associated compliance
  • Grant management experience required
  • Knowledge of program development, management, and evaluation required, particularly in the humanitarian and development sector
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Willingness to support outside standard working hours, particularly during emergencies or funding deadlines
  • Ability to travel within Canada and internationally as needed
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
