About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build the contracting infrastructure needed as ispace U.S.'s government business grows
  • Own the full lifecycle of federal contracts, from proposal support through negotiation, execution, administration, and closeout
  • Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, and other applicable federal contracting requirements
  • Lead contract negotiations, modifications, and amendments, including complex government contracts and teaming or subcontract arrangements
  • Monitor contract performance, resolve issues or discrepancies, and conduct risk assessments
  • Advise leadership on contractual, financial, operational, and performance risks
  • Build scalable policies, procedures, governance structures, decision frameworks, executive review, and escalation mechanisms
  • Strengthen federal contracting readiness and compliance across U.S. and global teams
  • Serve as primary contact with federal contracting officers and agency representatives
  • Build relationships with contracting officers, subcontractors, and teaming partners
  • Identify staffing and capability needs for a growing federal portfolio
  • Develop federal-contract training for Business Development, Engineering, Program Management, Finance, and other teams
  • Represent ispace U.S. at government-industry engagements, acquisition forums, conferences, industry days, and strategic events
  • Establish performance metrics and executive reporting on contract execution, acquisition readiness, and portfolio health
  • Evaluate prime contractor, subcontractor, teaming, joint venture, and strategic partnership opportunities
  • Assist with long-term strategy to increase ispace U.S.'s ability to compete independently for prime federal contracts
  • Report to the Senior Counsel and partner with Legal, Finance, IT, Supply Chain, and Program Management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in contract administration or related field; combination of experience and education considered
  • 8+ years of government contracts experience in aerospace, defense, or a comparable regulated industry
  • Working command of the FAR, DFARS, and NASA FAR Supplement
  • Practical experience across multiple contract types, including FFP, CPFF, CPIF, IDIQ, and OTA
  • Demonstrated negotiation experience with government customers or prime contractors
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment where precedent often does not exist yet
  • Must live in the Washington D.C. area
  • U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations under ITAR
  • Successful completion of a background investigation
  • Master's degree or higher (standout qualification)
  • Experience with NASA acquisition, CLPS, commercial services contracts, or firm-fixed-price milestone-based space vehicle contracts (standout qualification)
  • Familiarity with OTAs, SBIR/STTR, and Space Act Agreements (standout qualification)
  • Background supporting a company through its first major prime award (standout qualification)
  • NCMA certification (CPCM, CFCM, CCCM) or JD (standout qualification)
  • Working knowledge of export control regimes and cross-border affiliate structures (standout qualification)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (standout qualification)
