About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy ServiceNow configurations, custom applications, and automated workflows
  • Write and maintain server-side and client-side JavaScript using Glide APIs, Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, and ACLs
  • Favor configuration over customization to keep the instance upgradeable and avoid long-term technical debt
  • Build advanced Service Catalog items, including catalog client scripts, UI policies, variable sets, and record producers
  • Design and build readable, maintainable Flow Designer automations
  • Support improvement and optimization of Incident, Problem, Change, Request, and Knowledge Management modules
  • Partner with business analysts and platform administrators on process design
  • Design and implement REST, SOAP, and IntegrationHub integrations
  • Build transforms, error handling, and retry logic for reliable integrations
  • Execute unit, integration, and regression testing, including Automated Test Framework coverage
  • Maintain update sets, release documentation, and technical design records
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and design gaps early
  • Ensure solutions meet Section 508 accessibility and FISMA/NIST security controls
  • Mentor developers and promote ServiceNow development best practices
  • Set and enforce development standards; lead code reviews, peer reviews, release management support, and governance and compliance checks
  • Participate in client calls and technical design discussions, translating business requirements into actionable technical solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development and configuration experience, including experience guiding or mentoring other developers
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited University, required
  • Strong platform scripting skills, including server-side and client-side JavaScript, Glide APIs, Business Rules, and Script Includes
  • Experience building Service Catalog items, workflows or Flow Designer automations, and integrations using REST, SOAP, and IntegrationHub
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex builds from requirements through rollout
  • Track record of setting or enforcing development standards on a team and representing technical solutions in client-facing discussions
  • Demonstrated experience delivering in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and across technical and functional teams
  • Active Interim Secret security clearance at minimum, with ability to obtain and maintain a final Secret clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Availability during East Coast business hours
  • Preferred: ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)
  • Preferred: At least one ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certification; CIS-ITSM preferred
  • Preferred: Hands-on proficiency with ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF)
  • Preferred: Experience with release coordination, version control, and automated testing strategies
  • Preferred: Prior experience supporting federal or defense contracting environments
  • Preferred: Experience with Service Portal, UI Builder, or Now Experience framework
  • Preferred: Development experience outside ServiceNow, including JavaScript, REST and SOAP integrations, or other platforms
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of ITSM, IT asset and configuration management, and ITIL practices
