About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead mechanical development and integration of advanced liquid cooling solutions for AI, hyperscale, and high-performance computing applications
- Own system development from early concept and mechanical architecture through detailed design, prototype and validation phases, design release, production readiness, and mass production
- Own mechanical design and integration of liquid cooling loops, drawer integration, manifolds, coolant distribution assemblies, fluid routing, and mechanical interfaces to cold plates
- Define early mechanical architecture with thermal system architects and cross-functional engineering teams
- Manage top-level assemblies, loop layout, packaging, integration architecture, component interfaces, CAD models, drawings, documentation, and release packages
- Define cold-plate envelope and interface requirements; perform fit-up, compatibility, and interference checks
- Own mounting screw selection, hose and tube routing, barb strategy, manifold integration, and mechanical interface definitions
- Support domestic and global prototype, mini-build, SOP, and production build cycles, onsite and remotely
- Identify and drive closure of system-level technical risks
- Create system and assembly drawings with inspection criteria, GD&T, and manufacturing acceptance standards
- Manage component and assembly releases and engineering changes throughout the product lifecycle
- Contribute to DFM and DFA reviews
- Perform tolerance stack-ups and variation studies, including assembly fit, interfaces, packaging, and integration requirements
- Review FAI, SPC, metrology, process capability, Cp/Cpk, and production data
- Develop assembly/disassembly strategies, system documentation, and loop-level SOP content
- Own and maintain system-level bills of materials and coordinate cold-plate BOM interfaces
- Develop build strategies for transition from prototype to high-volume production
- Support integration and manufacturing implementation at customer and contract manufacturing sites
- Work directly with customers to define requirements, review concepts, communicate trade-offs, and support deployment
- Conduct failure analysis and root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions
- Collaborate with Thermal Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Reliability, Test, Operations, Supply Chain, Program Management, customers, suppliers, and manufacturing partners
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- 5+ years of mechanical product design experience involving complex engineered systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information across multidisciplinary and international teams
- Experience supporting products through rapid development cycles from early concept development through prototyping, verification, validation, and manufacturing ramp activities
- Experience using manufacturing and quality data to support engineering decision making
- Experience creating engineering drawings using GD&T, functional dimensioning, inspection criteria, and tolerance analysis methodologies
- Working knowledge of DFM, DFA, and statistical tolerance analysis techniques
- Experience presenting technical concepts, test results, design reviews, and engineering recommendations to stakeholders or customers
- Strong proficiency with CAD and PLM systems, including parts, assemblies, drawings, and release workflows
- Working knowledge of mechanics of materials, tolerance analysis, thermodynamics, and DFMx
- Ability to assess technical risk, define mitigation strategies, and drive issues to closure
- Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally
- Creo and SolidWorks experience preferred
- Experience in high-volume contract manufacturing, liquid cooling products, manifold development, coolant distribution systems, fluid routing, rack-level integration, direct-to-chip architectures, cold-plate integration, manufacturing processes, international builds, global suppliers, CFD, or FEA preferred/desirable
- Bilingual in Mandarin Chinese a plus
