About the role

  • Provide detailed, substantive feedback on prompt alignment, content, structure, and language
  • Draft illustrative examples tailored to students' real backgrounds and guide them to rewrite in their own words
  • Research relevant details so guidance and examples are specific and grounded
  • Leave focused margin notes explaining reasoning and next steps
  • Protect students' authentic voices
  • Lead brainstorming and strategy sessions with students
  • Flag items needing expert judgment and document reasoning
  • Contribute to educational resources, training materials, and admissions content
  • Participate in coach training and quality reviews
  • Meet established turnaround times and quality benchmarks

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing, English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field (Premium Admissions Level)
  • At least 5 years of professional editing, writing, teaching, publishing, or journalism experience and/or a creative writing certification (Signature Admissions Level)
  • Exceptional writing, developmental feedback, and coaching skills, with strong command of grammar, style, and mechanics
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience coaching or editing medical school admissions materials preferred
  • Familiarity with AMCAS, AACOMAS, TMDSAS, and common secondary essay prompt types preferred
  • Working knowledge of a house style guide and consistency standards preferred
