About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work directly with designated contract pork producers to troubleshoot problem areas and provide production-improvement solutions
- Manage customer relationships and assist with contract renewals
- Provide documentation of on-farm reports
- Work with the Business Manager to develop solutions and make decisions affecting the area and business unit profitability
- Conduct farm visits, producer meetings, and information sharing
- Manage 20–25 producer sites consisting of 50–100,000 pig spaces
- Assist in managing producer relationships and approximately $5–10 million of pig inventory
- Coach, train, and develop new farm managers
- Support animal welfare and environmental compliance and help producers meet compliance requirements
- Handle medication and veterinarian ordering
- Ensure bio-security compliance and action planning
- Help control costs associated with feed, supplies, and labor
- Maintain accurate records and number integrity
- Coordinate and oversee special projects
- Make recommendations for operational improvements
- Perform administrative duties including pig conformance, feed budgets, and the closeout process
- Perform other duties assigned by the Production Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS/BA degree in Agriculture, related field, or 5 years’ equivalent experience in pork production
- Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Occasional travel - 15%
- Ability to motivate and inspire people to achieve high goals
- Possess Problem Solving Techniques
- Demonstrates knowledge of overall business strategy and operations
- Possesses proficiency in spreadsheet, database, word processing software
- Demonstrates written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to bend, push, pull, twist, and lift approximately 60+lbs
- Must complete post-offer drug, alcohol, and background checks
- Must provide employment eligibility verification by the end of the third day of work
