About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work directly with designated contract pork producers to troubleshoot problem areas and provide production-improvement solutions
  • Manage customer relationships and provide documentation of on-farm reports
  • Collaborate with the Business Manager on solutions and decisions affecting the area and business-unit profitability
  • Conduct farm visits, producer meetings, and information sharing to maximize farm production
  • Manage 20–25 producer sites consisting of approximately 50,000–100,000 pig spaces
  • Assist with producer relationships and contract renewals
  • Train, coach, and develop new farm managers
  • Audit facility and environmental compliance and help producers meet requirements
  • Assist producers with marketing animals
  • Handle administrative duties including pig conformance, feed budgets, and the closeout process
  • Support animal welfare, environmental compliance, medication/veterinary ordering, and biosecurity action planning
  • Help control feed, supply, and labor costs
  • Maintain accurate records and number integrity
  • Coordinate and oversee special projects
  • Recommend operational improvements
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Production Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS/BA degree in Agriculture or a related field, or 5 years’ equivalent experience in pork production
  • Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Approximately 15% travel; frequent travel to farms in Central and East Central Iowa
  • Ability to motivate and inspire people to achieve high goals
  • Problem-solving techniques
  • Knowledge of overall business strategy and operations
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet, database, and word-processing software
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to bend, push, pull, twist, and lift approximately 60+ lbs
  • Must complete post-offer, pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background checks
  • Employment eligibility verification required by the end of the third day of work
